Webquest

7th Grade students! Below is a WebQuest that is to be completed! Have fun with it! Introduction: Lions, and Tigers, and Bears… oh my! You have drifted off to sleep after watching The Wizard of Oz. Suddenly you wake to your alarm buzzing. The start of another busy day. You start by checking your e-mail. You are surprised to find that you have an urgent message from the Principal of your school. The e-mail says you are the task manager of the group.
§ Tasks: The teachers are arguing that the information in the science textbooks is incorrect. The text says that bears live in Africa. It is your job to go on an African Safari to see if there are bears in Africa. You are responsible for reporting back to the teachers the animals that are in existence in Africa. Since there is no time to spare, you must do your research online! The teachers need to know what to teach! You assign each member in your team and animal to investigate. They are to find where the animal lives, its’ habitat, and what it eats. You will then make an oral presentation using PowerPoint and present the information you discovered to the Science teachers.
§ Process: First you will be assigned to a group of 3-4 people. Your group will need to pick animals to research. Lions, tiger, bears, and penguins must be included in your selection. As soon as you have decided who is to specialize in what animal, you must collect your data using the resources below. You will chart your information as soon as it is collected. Remember the information will be collected and presented to the teachers using a PowerPoint.
Resources: These resources will help you collect the information needed.
Polar Bears in Africa
Living With Tigers
African lions
Penguins in Africa???

§ Evaluation: Your group will be evaluated according to the following scoring guide. Each group will be graded fairly. Remember that the group grade will go to individual members.
§ Conclusion: With the conclusion of this WebQuest you should have a better understanding of animals in Africa. Was it surprising the types of animals that live in Africa? I hope that you have enjoyed this assignment, and continue to use WebQuests.
